Dr. Karl Sylvester is a co-founder of HBI Solutions and focuses on clinical product strategy development within the company. He is the founding director of the Clinical Effectiveness Initiative at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, Stanford University. Dr. Sylvester helped lead the transformation in perioperative services improvement initiatives through the implementation of Lean principles in healthcare. He is also an associate professor of surgery and pediatrics at the Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Sylvester’s research interests include the use of large data sets—such as demographic, epidemiologic, proteomic, and genomic data—to risk-stratify patient cohorts, as well as predict outcomes and guide resource utilization.
